Cartrack steep cancelation fee.
I just want to share my frustration with the very steep cancelation fee of R2650 rand on their contract. Make sure that you look at the contract duration before you sign. If you are not sure you are going to stick around for the full 3 years, then rather go to another company.

24 Jun 2025, 20:11Thanks, Cartrack team,
As discussed with your agent, I would like to know why the cancellation fee is so steep even after being on the contract for a long time. I was also pointed towards that I was getting off "lightly" and that the full-term contract amount is R5k +.
To remind you of the SA consumers act:
The Consumer Protection Act in South Africa, for example, allows businesses to charge a reasonable cancellation penalty, but it must not be unreasonable and should be proportionate to the actual losses.
I unfortunately feel that your cancellation fee is unreasonable and that you are profiting from it.
As mentioned in the original post to anyone that reads this, make sure you check all your options before signing that contract.
And as a cherry on the cake, they deducted another +-R900 from my account. It was explained as an erroneous transaction when I phone the contact center, but now, I have to wait another 7 to 14 days for the reversal.
