Cartrack Recovery Warranty ****

I was hijacked in December 2024. I had a Cartrack package with a recovery warranty option should my car get ******. Cartrack was extremely poor in communication during the hijack situation to the point I had to constantly follow up with them regarding if they had found my car. Eventually the tracking unit was found in Soweto, unfortunately not the car. On 7 February 2025 the police let me know that the car was found burnt on 22 December 2024. Car track had no knowledge of this.

While following up on the recovery warranty which took a long time to even be lodged because the warranty department is just poor with service. The verdict for my recovery warranty turned out as DECLINED due to clause 8

8. Client’s General Obligation 8.1. It is the responsibility of the Client to contact the Cartrack control center for a Unit test to be carried out in terms of clause 10.1.3.4. The Client must take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Unit is in proper working order and must immediately or as soon as is practically possible report any Unit faults and/or failures to Cartrack in order for Cartrack to provide the Service. Now when the car was lost, the unit was in perfect working order as the unit itself was recovered. I constantly checked my car whereabouts of the Car Track app so there was no need to call Car track as I had done all necessary steps that the unit was in working condition.

The clause is based on the unit being faulty and taking all necessary steps to ensure that the unit works. Throughout the cover, the unit was working. I appealed the rejection and STILL Cartrack declined my appeal.

Based off the poor communication that sometimes spans months from Cartrack and rejecting my recovery warranty based off something that was indeed working. I am highly disgusted with the outcome of the case, Cartrack’s poor communication and also not even being aware that the car was found, burnt in the same area that they found the unit, therefore, not doing an exhaustive search for the car, only to reject a serious claim such as mine.
