Cartrack is a ****!

My tracking unit hasnt been working for months yet they still charge me every month. They finally replace the unit. The 'new' unit only works half the time and drains my car's battery so quickly that it struggles to start. Twice now i've been stuck with the car refusing to start. Now that i've decided to cancel, they want to charge R570 PER VEHICLE to remove the two units! I cannot believe the audicity of these people.

Cartrack has come back to me about this and say that the units do not have to be removed. What they do is they 'hard-lock' the units so they become inactive. Whether this will really deactivate the units (and stop draining the battery of my one car) remain to be seen. If my problem doesn't go away then I'll just have to remove the unit myself but I'm definitely not paying them R570 to release my car.

Surprise surprise, the car didn't start this morning. Seems whatever they did, its draining the battery faster than before. Atleast the first faulty unit didn't drain the battery.

FYI

I cancelled my subscription before the end of December meaning that I would be charged for January as January would be my last month. Pretty standard stuff. BUT in addition to this they are charging me an extra months fee i.e. R227.58 which they are calling the "Cancellation Fee". I found their Terms and Conditions and it states;
"3.4 Cartrack may impose a reasonable cancellation penalty, should the cancellation be before the end of the Term, in lieu of costs incurred with respect to the Service provided in contemplation of the Agreement enduring for its intended Term."

So first of all, the fee is whatever they say it is. Secondly, what costs did they incur? If anything they made money out of me when the tracking unit wasn't working they STILL charged me. Thirdly, what term? I never agreed (nor signed) to any fixed term.

However I am afraid of not paying as these people seen like the kind that would blacklist you over R227.58. What an outstanding bunch!
