Good day
I was on the phone with Cartrack for almost 2 hours now, but I was unable to be assisted. I spoke to Shaheed in cacellations who at least got my contract finally cancelled and Fhatywani in collections who was just utterly rude and condescending .
When I purchased my vehicle, I took out Cartrack. I had great customer service for the first couple of months. However in April of 2021 I was involved in a very bad car accident. I lost everything in that accident. I phoned from a landline informing Cartrack that I do not have a car anymore and neither a phone and I would like to cancel the contract.
Today I am informed that the contract was never cancelled. There is nothing on record for my call. They continued deducting money from my account and when there was no money left, they proceeded to blacklist me. I was able to get my contract cancelled today, but I was informed that there is an outstanding amount of R1000 on my account and that I have to pay more than R1800 to get my name cleared.
I have never been blacklisted in my life, therefore this comes as a shock to me. I understand that the contract continued and they kept on deducting money, I do not want a refund for that. All I want is my name cleared. I replaced my phone and had a new number, therefore they could not get a hold of me, I however have the following questions:
I was paying for a service that was not rendered to me. I was paying because I was contractually obligated to, because a consultant did not capture my cancellation. As FNB is my secondary account, I never noticed that Cartrack was still deducting money. Why did they not send me an e-mail before they blacklisted me? The answer I was given was that they never had an email address on file for me.
I am also informed that they do not have my car registration number on file. So I am asking again, what was I paying for? What were they tracking all these months? With the Cartrack policy, there are numerous benefits, but the main reason why we take out Cartrack is the fact that it will give you peace of mind. When you are hijacked or your car is ******, Cartrack will be able to locate your car.
So in over a year, Cartrack has not been able to locate my car, but no one bothered to find out why. What if I was hijacked in April of 2021 and the attackers took my phone? Cartrack would phone, and when my phone is off, they would say "Ag shame". They would never bother again, even though the car is untraceable and the driver is uncontactable. FOR OVER A YEAR. My car could have been dismantled and my body chopped up and Cartrack would just say: Oh well, his phone is off, we tried our best.
I thought the core of a vehicle tracking system is to know where the vehicle is at all times. I thought there were some notification measures to say when a vehicle is switched off. Maybe I had it all wrong. I thought a search party or something would be deployed by Cartrack when a vehicle just vanishes off the grid and the owner is uncontactable.
I feel that there are so many injustices that took place with my case and I have a feeling that it is the tip of the iceberg and that many customers are unknowingly in the same boat as I am. All I am asking for today is for my name to be cleared. I want no money from you. Asking where my car is, will be asking way too much. I beg you. I plead with you. Just clear my name.
Best regards,
