Cartrack and your insurance
I took out a new contract with Cartrack for a tracking device. When the agent read the T’s & C’s to me, one of the questions I had to agree to was that I must give consent to “your (my) insurance company” to have access to all my tracking info. They do not specify “your (my) insurance company” and insisted on me giving blanket consent so that “your (my) insurance company” can access my tracking info. This contract is in my private capacity and not linked to any insurer whatsoever, and they don’t ask who “my insurance” is, yet I must give blanket consent for “your insurance” (whoever they may be) to access my tracking info with Cartrack. This doesn’t make sense, so I refused consent that I believe are within my rights without impacting my Cartrack relationship in any way. But the agent said if I refuse to give consent to “your (my) insurance” the contract is void. (Why then ask me this question if I cannot say no?). I believe I must be given the opportunity to refuse consent without the contract being void, especially because it is not required by “my insurer”. Why does Cartrack insist on a blanket consent for “your insurance” when they don’t even ask who “my insurance” is, and it’s not a requirement from “my insurance” and without it having any impact on my relationship with Cartrack? Does Cartrack have some sort of a backdoor arrangement with the insurance companies that the public must be aware of?
