Car track unwillingness to act led to car theft

Good day

On the 14th of February we called Car Track to report that an Uber driver we had hired had fled with our vehicle. He was not answering our calls nor did he want to return the vehicle. Car Track refused to act until we had a case number from SAPS. On the 15th February we went to SAPS Douglasdale and they gave us case number OB 1462/02/2023. We called Car Track again and they said they are investigating. On the 16th February, we called back again and only then did they tell us this was not a ****** vehicle case number but a missing person’s number so they cannot help us.

We went back to SAPS Douglasdale and received case number 341/2/2023 and gave the case number to Car Track, still no action. After numerous calls, they informed us that they cannot act on the case number as the vehicle was not circulated. Around midday on the 16th February, we noticed that the vehicle was stationary and it was evident that the tracker had been removed.

On the 17th February we received case number 355/2/2023 from SAPS Diepsloot, who confirmed that the vehicle was now in circulation. Again, we called Car Track and they said they will investigate, which is useless because the tracker had been removed by then.

The vehicle is now nowhere to be found and Car Track is mum!! Had action been taken on the 1st day we reported the vehicle as ****** we would not be here.

My husband lost his job during the pandemic and invested in this Uber vehicle as his only source of income.

Car Track is wholly responsible for this mess as we paid you monthly to track and recover the vehicle when theft is reported.

We expect a response on how you will take accountability for our household now having one less income. You will need to replace the vehicle or we will take this as far as we need to.
