Clutch replacement after owning vehicle for 25000kms
Good day, In November 2021, I purchased a demo Fiat 500c Sport with 13000km on the clock from Cargo Motors, Bedfordview. The service from the salesman was excellent. As I travel long distances for work, the milage went up quite quickly and the car now has 38000km on the clock. The first item on the car to start with issues, was the roof which just refused to close and the advise received from the salesman was to just disconnect the battery and all will be well again. THe car did this a few times and Fiat was never able to find the issue. The next problem was that the Start/Stop system failed. This was repaired under warranty, only to stop working again 2 weeks later. Again. During all of this, all 4 shock absorbers on the car had to be replaced at different times due to product failure. On Tuesday, 3 May I took the vehicle back to Cargo Motors so they can have another go at repairing the Start/Stop system and asked them to please look at the clutch as it has always felt different from the loan cars they provided me with. I was told that the ****ch was burnt and it will be R19 000.00 to replace it and that I am liable for it.
Now, my question is, how does a clutch get burnt with long distance driving? Why, given the issues this car had and the fact that it was a demo vehicle, can the dealership just pull up their shoulders? Is 25000km the standard milange for a clutch?
I am very unhappy with the dealer’s decision and I want everybody to know how this dealership operates.
