Disappointing delays, poor quality control and unacceptable vehicle handover

I am very disappointed with my experience at Carellos Panel Beaters. My vehicle was booked in on 24/04/2026 after accident damage. I was initially advised that the repairs would take approximately 7–10 working days. However, the vehicle remained with Carellos until 19/05/2026 waiting for parts. As a result, I had to extend my rental vehicle and incur additional costs, including the add-on insurance. I was then only notified that the vehicle was ready for collection on Friday, 29/05/2026, which was very short notice after an already lengthy delay. I therefore arranged to collect it on Monday, 01/06/2026. During my inspection, I pressed the towbar release button, but the towbar did not deploy. I was initially told that the vehicle did not have a towbar. Carellos then had to refer back to the booking-in photos, which confirmed that the vehicle did in fact have a towbar when it was booked in. It then became clear that the incorrect bumper had been installed, as the bumper did not accommodate the towbar. I was advised that the bumper would now need to be cut or rectified to allow the towbar to function. This was extremely disappointing, as this should have been identified during the repair process or during the final quality control check before the vehicle was released. I then had to return a second time after being assured that a more thorough quality control check had been performed. However, I noticed that the boot sensor was not working, which meant I still could not collect my vehicle. This raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of the inspection and quality control process, especially after I had already been assured that the vehicle had been checked. The vehicle was later delivered to my house, but the fuel tank was completely empty and showing 0 km range. I did not expect a full tank by any means, but I did expect the vehicle to be returned with at least roughly the same amount of fuel it had when it was booked in. This was unacceptable, particularly after such a long repair period. It also raised concern about the potential strain this may have placed on the fuel system while the vehicle was being delivered to me, and it created further inconvenience because I then had to drive the vehicle to refuel it with 0 km range showing. The condition of the vehicle on return was also disappointing. The windscreen and bonnet looked as though the vehicle had been rained on and left with water stains before being returned. After the delays and repeated handover issues, a basic clean before returning the vehicle would have been a reasonable expectation. Overall, I am disappointed with the lead time, the quality control process, the repeated failed handovers, the condition in which the vehicle was returned, and the fact that obvious issues were missed more than once before the vehicle was released. After such a lengthy repair period, I expected the vehicle to be properly checked, professionally handed over, and returned in an acceptable condition.
