Watch out!

Watch out! I feel it necessary for the general public that I share my experience with Cardinal Flooring and in particular, Frans Wessels, their intemperate CEO. In June 2019, they installed underfloor heating at my place in Stellenbosch (after they installed the laminate flooring), whilst I was in Johannesburg, at a cost of R53k. I had a R15k balance to pay on completion. Their CEO told me that the underfloor heating had been installed and wrote to me on WhatsApp saying "Everything successfully completed". Trusting him, I paid the R15k only to find that when I arrived back in Stellenbosch, nothing was working (all four rooms). His own installer (Ashley) conceded that it was not working. I made him a video, using an infrared/laser thermometer, that reveals how my JHB laminate underfloor is working (Cardinal's underfloor installation generating no detectable heat) and he writes "Thank you Maurice. Please confirm what system you're using? What type of heating elements are you using? What insulation (if any) do you have under the floor? What type of laminated floors do you have in your house? Once we have this information we can draw parallels between the your installations. Your Jhb installation can however not be used as a benchmark of the success of our installation after the fact. Regards". My Jhb installation generates heat. Cardinal's does not, yet, in their minds, I cannot use my Jhb installation as a benchmark. Generating heat is seemingly not a benchmark for them. He/Cardinal are refusing to refund me despite their warranty and the Consumer Protection Act being clear that they have a legal obligation to do so. Plain and simple - I paid the R15k as a result of a lie and am now out of pocket in the amount of R53k for having received nothing. I have to restart again with another company and litigate for my money back.
