I want to share my car repair experience with Car Care Clinic in Fish Hoek.

On March 26, 2024, I took my car to CarCareClinic because it was leaking water. They kept the car for a day, and the bill came to R2,946.85.

On October 14, 2024, I wanted to drive out of my garage to a meeting, but I discovered that my car had no gears. I called Car Care Clinic, and they came to check my car at home, which was only five minutes away, and arranged for a tow truck.

I was without my car for almost two weeks, and when I received the bill, it was R12,839.75. I paid the bill and was glad to have my car back, although I still experienced difficulty getting it into reverse gear. Additionally, I noticed other issues, such as running out of water while driving and finding oil leaks in my garage.

On February 24, 2025, I returned to Car Care Clinic and asked if they could quickly check the sources of the water and oil leaks without needing a booking. They requested an upfront payment of R650. Deciding to have my car serviced with them again that same day, I walked home, hoping they would identify any remaining problems. My car was gone for a day, and I received a bill for R4,805.80. On the same day, they suggested further repairs that would cost an additional R9,366.40.

While my car seemed to drive fine, the water meter continued to rise. I began to feel uncomfortable with their service. Feeling disappointed, I took my car to a recommended mechanic in Fish Hoek. After reviewing the bills I had been paying, he shook his head. He inspected my Fiat Palio and found multiple oil leaks in the engine. After his examination, which he did not charge me for, he informed me that the car radiator was leaking and needed to be replaced. He couldn't perform the work and referred me to Peninsula Auto Cooling in Retreat on April 2, 2025.

The video they sent me was shocking. They also shared several voice messages, photos, and videos over WhatsApp. I provided a screenshot of the bills I had been paying, and they said that I had been cheated.

They performed extensive work, including supplying a new radiator, a clutch kit, and a water pump, among other things. They had my car for a week, and the total cost was R12,448.75.

The bill from Peninsula Auto Cooling stated that there were no indications of a new clutch fitting or a new master cylinder, which I had paid for in October 2024 at Car Care Clinic. They were supposed to repair the clutch, which came to R12,839.75.
