Wrong diagnosis

Can someone please help me out. I took my car to Cartime Midrand for a diagnosis for my front suspension and I was told it's the control arm. Initially I wanted to have it replaced immediately after the diagnosis but their supplier didn't have the part in stock. So I returned a few weeks later with the said part and got it replaced but the same problem we wanted to fix is still there and my alignment is even worse now. I requested a refund but I was told by head office that they will not refund me because I brought the part to them to have it fitted. Now they are claiming that the control arm was indeed damaged (I do not believe that) and they can do whatever they want to the control arm as it's still in their possession.

The alignment is even worse than it was before rendering the car unusable for long drives to work. I had high hopes for the branch as the staff is friendly and welcoming but the service was not good. I'll be taking my car elsewhere for repairs.

Good afternoon Thando

As discussed telephonically earlier, we had diagnosed the vehicle for you, at no charge, and the play on the suspension was originating on your control arm.
The manager of the store then allowed you to supply the part yourself to try make the repair more affordable. I have no doubt the wheel alignment is now worse than it was as the suspension was stripped in order to fit your control arm.
The manager then advised you the alignment needed to be done but you have reported back that there is still play in the wheel bearing.
I'm sure the damages to the ball joint and wheel bearing were as a result of the potholes you hit and damaged your tyres on but be that as it may, your old control arm is still with manager at the store and has not been discarded, please feel free to collect it at your convenience.
We have offered to assist you with a quotation for the wheel bearing but you have refused. Unfortunately we cannot refund you for a diagnosis you got for free, nor for the time taken to replace your worn control arm.
Should you change your mind regarding the wheel bearing replacement, the offer still stands.

Kind Regards,
CARtime Head Office

Hi Elton, I appreciate your reply. As I explained to you on the call, I hit the pothole with left side of my car with no damages other than the tires that burst. (That was verified by Dunlop) The play on the right was not made worse during the incident because that's not the side that hit the pothole. Just to emphasize, it was one pothole. The bearing is the reason I came for a diagnosis but your mechanics missed it and gave me the wrong diagnosis hence I bought the control arm.

I still do not believe that the control arm was faulty because if that was the case, the car should have felt a whole lot better but as I said, it's worse now.

I heard your offer to give me a discount on the repair of the bearing carrier but I do not have faith in the repair centre anymore. A refund on the futile labour that not only didn't fix anything, but also made my car worse is the only thing you can help me with but you've made your stance clear on that which is fine. I will take my car elsewhere for repairs. Thank you.
