The CARtime ************s

My car clutch recently failed and I took my car to CARtime n1 City to give me a quote on replacing it. Note my car is a 2007 Opel Corsa lite. (It has a cable clutch)

The car went in on Saturday morning at 11:15. By Monday 13:00 I had heard nothing from them, so I sent a message on their whatsapp, which got ignored. They can see your phone ID when you phone, I know this for a fact and guess they were not taking my calls either.

I had to get hold of the regional manager at HQ to force them to phone me. So eventually they called to tell me my clutch is faulty, which I already knew, that's why why I asked for a quote on clutch repair. Then I got told that no further work can be done on that day because its 15:00 and they will get back to me on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning they came back with a quote for R11980.00 (I told them that this is impossible as the clutch kits for those cars are cheap and easy to install).They were charging me 8 hours of labour at R650 an hour (8 hours of labour is impossible on such a small job). I actually phoned Master parts and they quoted me R1750 for the entire clutch kit (CARtime charges R5060 for the same thing), and I know repair shops get parts cheaper than consumers. I was told to pay R7000 deposit before they can work on the car.

At first I told them that they can go ahead because I really did not feel like arguing, but then I phoned them back 5 minutes later and cancelled the job saying that I do not want them to work on my car. I did not pay the deposit either. They phoned me back offering me a few hundred rand discount but I refused. Then they told me I owe them 2.5 hours of labour or they can not release the car?????? I did not give them permission to strip my car and how did they do 2.5 hours work in 5 minutes and without a deposit??

I then called Welsh motors who quoted me R5000 for the clutch replacement.

I organized a tow truck to take my car to Welsh motors. The tow truck had to wait 30 to 40 minutes for CARtime to put my car back together. I had to pay them R1625 for work I did not ask for. I read the reviews of this branch and many people complain about them. They just ****** money from people.
