Disastrous, sloppy, disrespectful service Blackheath branch Cartime
Cartime Blackheath Randburg. ( Pathetic, Rude Service ) Date booked in: 15 September +- 8am Problems reported to manager on duty: 1)Water leak at the back of the engine 2)Oil dripping from oil pressure sensor.
Separate quote required for RHS shock mounting.
At around 1pm I contacted the branch as I have not received a quote nor any communication regarding the cost. I was told that the water pipe leading to my heater has perished and needs replacing but no new replacement pipe is available from suppliers however they will mend the pipe. I enquired if this will last and was assured that it would.
I was told that a new oil sensor will be installed. (To my knowledge the sensor was working as my car indicated that my oil pressure was low 1 week prior)
He also told me that my tappet cover gasket was not the correct size and that it was replaced.
I found that odd as there was no leak from the top of the engine and this was replaced +- a year ago by a MSI registered service centre and my motor guarantee policy paid for it. The was no problem or leak since.
I still had no idea wat the cost was as I have received a quote or any communication from the Manager.
I call again around 3pm for an update and was told it was load shedding and that my car was stuck on the lift. I asked if my car will be ready by 16:30 and I was told that it would be. Still no idea on the cost.
I arrived at 16:45 to collect my car and was told by a worker that my car is on a test drive. After 10min the manager and the mechanic arrived with my vehicle handed me the key and stated that all is good and well.
I received the invoice and was shocked that the cost came to R3261.10.
Having no choice but to pay, I did. I requested a damage report for my vehicle warrantee policy, I was told I should use the invoice. I explained that the insurer requires a report, the manager said that he will WhatsApp me the report the next morning. (still awaiting the report). I also enquired about the sealant cost of R255.00 and the Consumables cost of R230.00. I was told it's standard and preloaded on the invoices. ( very odd )
As I drove away ( +- 1km) my car's temperature started climbing, the fan started and a red warning light on my dashboard flashed STOP.
I turned around back to the service centre, explained what happened, only to be told by the mechanic that it can't be as they just drive the car.
I showed them the temperature gauge.
The manger instructed the mechanic to have a look at it as his Uber has arrived and he is locking up.
During this discussion I noticed that my battery cover was not put back. The mechanic told me that there was no cover. I informed him that there was. He raised his voice at me saying that there was no cover.
Another worker went back inside to look for the cover and returned with the cover. (No apology) I then noticed that the air filter bracket was hanging loose and asked about it. The mechanic then raised his voice even louder and said: I was the one that was fixing your car and it was hanging like that. I know for a fact that it was not as I replaced the filter 4 months prior. There is a clear indication that there were *****s missing. He kept arguing while trying to bleed the water circulation. The manger was still standing there and didn't say anything to the mechanic about the rude, disrespectful manner in how he was addressing me.
The manger then climbed in his Uber and left me in the parking lot while the rude mechanic was trying to fix my car.
I told the mechanic that I am going to log a complained and he rudely and loudly stated: you can I don't care.
At 17:50 he closed the bonnet and handed my keys to me.
I drove home and parked my car in my garage. The next morning my garage floor had a large fresh oil stain and when I opened the bonnet the engine was full of oil that was leaking from where they replaced the tap gasket. Not sure if it's still leaking from the pressure switch.
As I have visited this branch before and received the old parts that was replaced, I expected to receive the same, however I did not receive any old parts that can confirm that the any work was intact done or that new parts were replaced.
There is also traces of some sort of glue on the tappet cover (not sure why)
The air filter bracket is also still hanging loose.
I called the manger this morning and he said that I must bring the car back for them to look at it. I raised a concern about the tappet gasket and his response was :but you told me to replace it. ( I definitely did not ask for it to be replaced)
Firstly, I do not trust anything that anyone at this branch tells me.
Secondly, I want my old parts as proof that it was replaced.
Thirdly, I want to be refunded for the tappet gasket that was not faulty or leaking.
I have taken photos of the engine when I collected the vehicle and can take another showing the oil leaking onto the engine should you require it.
Side note: This is the third time using this branch and every time there are different managers and mechanics working there.
