Car Time - East London negligence
Good Day
I had my car in for a major service (1) at CarTime East London. Drums had to be skimmed. I was informed I could only collect my car the next day as an air filter had not arrived yet and therefore my car would not be ready the very same day as delivered to Car Time?..?
I returned my car (2) the very next day, as there was stressed metal noises when I pushed brakes. I was told it was nothing and it was just the new skimmed drums wearing in. (this being said without even test driving it. But hey, what do I know.) The noise got worse, I returned my car, (3) was told it was sorted and ready for collection. I collected it that same afternoon, as I drove out the noise was still there. I phoned Car Time to inquire who exactly worked on my car and they informed me it was Brake Disc Doctor. (this is NOT the company who skimmed the drums (1))
I contacted Brake Disc Doctor who told me they worked on the FTONT brakes and not the back brakes. Total confusion from my side now. I spoke to the National Manager from CarTime, Justin and he told me the man from Disc Doctor must be lying to me.?.? I asked him for video footage just so I can see, he agreed to it. Still have not received anything, so I still don't know what to believe. ?.?
Took my car in for the 4th time, collected the same afternoon. Was told from CarTIme that Action Clutch and Brake had taken responsibility and were going to send me an apology email to explain that their machine that skimmed the drums was not working properly the day I had my drums skimmed. (visit 1)
Got a whatsapp message from CarTime the next day asking if my car was ok. I told them the noise was gone but I still had not received the apology email from Action Clutch and Brake. CarTime then sent me a whatsapp back saying 'if the car was ok, there was no need to send the apology email'.
I phoned Action Clutch and Brake then to ask for the email to be sent for guarantee purposes. They refused to and denied every agreeing with CarTime to send an email, and that they were not going to accept responsibility for CarTime's bad workmanship. It is clear that something went wrong with my vehicle on the premises of CarTime, as when I spoke to the mechanic there, he told me how when he took a look at my car that the friction when braking had caused damage and that was the stressed metal noises I was hearing.
I have requested from Justin, the National Manager for a report on what exactly went wrong with my vehicle/who is responsible and also for a written guarantee/warrantee, which he was quite happy to agree to over the phone. To date, I have received nothing. No apology, no report on what went wrong, no responsibility from anyone.
My first action, is they allowed someone to work on my vehicle on the FRONT brakes without my permission, which is their policy as stated, they need to confirm before doing any work on the vehicle.
Secondly, I need a written report of what went wrong as neither party want to accept responsibility for the damage. I am driving around now with a car with who knows what went wrong with my brakes. I have also requested a print out of the diagnostics test they did and also to date have not received it. Bearing in mind I have all of these requests on the CarTime whatsapp messages, all read and nothing received to date.
Please let me know what my rights are now as a consumer, short of opening a case of negligence against CarTime East London. I drive with my 7 year daughter in the car, and now, I don't trust my car very much after they have worked on it. All I am asking for is that if anything is to go wrong with the brakes again, that I have in writing a guarantee to return it. If they/I have nothing to worry about, I am sure I would have received it by now, but clearly there is something not right.
thank you
