Bad servicing

Mine is a long saga - took my car for a 130000 service on 22/12/2015 Hillcrest branch before leaving for Knsyna.

On our return 15km from the camp site battery red light came on and found a layby to check what was wrong - I suspected a fanbelt as the temp had gone up. A fan belt had broken.Phoned AA to uplift my car (automatic) and take it to a garage for repairs. They replaced the broken belt and 2 others which were also badly perished. They also replaced an idler bearing because it was "wobbling". In the view of this garage someone should have picked up the perishing if they had inspected them during the service done by Car Time. Unfortunately I only brought back the broken fan belt and not the idler bearing.

When we returned to Hillcrest I went to Car Time - the manager there said he had to check with Head Office" A week later I had heard nothing so returned to the Hillcrest branch to be told Head Office were not interested in any claim. I phoned the "main"man at Head Office (Justin Wade) who was very aggressive. I then went down to Head Office in Pinetown to see him.His attitude continued to be aggressive saying that there was still the original equipment name on the top of the belt. He was not interested in the fact that belts perish on the inside where they run on pulleys. He also blamed the idler bearing which he said must have seized and caused the belt to break. I then went to an AA testing station where the 3 mechanics there said Car Time should have picked up the "perishing" during the service. They suggested I take it up with RMI which I did. Filled in all the necessary forms and paid R350 admin fee.I also the began investigating the price of spares I had been charged for. One particular item was a diesel fuel filter. They charged me R 805.50 (after my pensioner discount) The price from Mitsubishi (agent) was R340 Midas would have charged me R265. I also took this to RMI. Car Time did not even reply to this - the Hillcrest Manager needed "authority" from Head Office. Those persons happy with Car Time I recommend you check out the pricing of spares amd check what they actually do at each service (according to there job sheet and what they say is covered at each service!)
