NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO CAR SERVICE CITY! READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO.

Whatever you do NEVER EVER take your car to Car Service City, it doesn't matter which one. Last month I took my car there (Midrand Branch) for a low engine oil pressure warning light and *** I was in for a big surprise!

The problem was caused by an oil leak and they had to replace the tappet cover gasket (R450) to fix it. They also decided to change my V-Belt (R500) and the tensioner pulley (R450). Would you like to guess how much they charged me for the parts and labour? A whooping R6000!!!!

But that's not all! After replacing all the parts mentioned above and taking my hard earned R6000, they told me my car has a drivetrain warning light, which I've never seen before in my life. The car was in limp mode and they told me they want an additional R6000 to fix the mysterious problem that seems to have come out of thin air. I decided to buy my own diagnostics tool and do some digging.

Here's what I found: - The auxi****y water pump which cools the turbo was blocked, so I bought a new one and replaced it myself (R850). - The vacuum lines that connect to the turbo were mysteriously disconnected, causing an air leak and therefore causing the turbo not to function properly. Hence the car was in limp mode. - The alternator air duct (R350) was "missing" after the car came back from Car Service City.

After spending about 10 minutes diagnosing the car and about 20 minutes fitting the parts mentioned above for a low R1200, my car ran as if it was brand new. It's been 500 km since I fixed it and it's still running smoothly.

So my fellow motorists, no matter what happens, NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO CAR SERVICE CITY. They will overcharge you for parts, they will overcharge you for labour, and while fixing your car they will break something else so that you come back so they can charge you even more. BEWARE!!!
