Negligence and poor workmanship

We took one of our company bakkies in for a service at Car city service Northriding in JHB in May 2023. They changed the front bearings and breaks. Last weekend while traveling to Middelburg (MP) on the N4 the front wheel came off at 120km/h. Our driver luckily maintained controlled and did not make an accident. The bakkie was towed to Middelburg and the local trusted workshop gave us this report.

"The above-mentioned vehicle came in with the rollback with L/F wheel halfway of the vehicle. Upon stripping the vehicle, we found that the lock *****s (x3 *****s) were supposed to be locked through the lock plate into the nut. The people that worked there put the lock *****s directly into the nut that fastens the outer bearing and the lockring was loose inside the outer cover. This caused the bearing to loosen itself more and more while driving. We opened the R/F wheel and found the same problem there."

Thus, the latter clearly presents negligence and poor workmanship. This could have resulted in the death of one of our directors who was driving the bakkies
