Major service

So I took my car for a major service at Car Service City in Cape Town Claremont on the 24th of January 2024. Drop the car in the car in the morning, spoke to the receptionist, asked him what does major service entail and he explained. 'We change fuel filter, oil filter, Oil spark plugs and tighten the hansbrake, and the rest we call you to give us the go ahead as we charge per the job that needs to be done' I was like cool, see you later.

Later that day my phone rings, receptionist says, 'I popped you an email on the extra jobs that need to be done, please respond ASAP'. I look at the email and immediately puzzled as most of the parts that he says need to be bought and replaced I had replaced not so long ago. He says on the email, front brake discs need to be replaced, front brake pads need to be replaced, obviously this comes with brake fluid(which also has its own labor charge), and also front ball joints need to be replaced. I then respond to the email and tell him to not do the jobs, opting to buy the parts myself and taking it to another workshop I trust, and for him to only do the service(at this point am planning to go to GM motors to buy the parts). I then get a call from him to tell me they are done with the service and I can come get my car. I get there, very sceptical with all they said I decide I'll go check the things he supposedly says need to be replaced at work. I get to work the following morning on the 25th and go to the workshop and we then do the inspection on the car to check on these things(mind you I nearly bought these parts the previous day). The front brake pads are still very much intact, the front brake disks still have adequate life on them(even took pictures), I don't see the oil leak at all. Now I look at the quote for all these things he supposedly said I should change and wonder how many people are knocked out of their pockets for such lies, and if they even do carry out the service cause the handbrake was not even tightened.
