*****elent Replacement of Parts and Dont give a damn attitude from Head Office
On the 22 November I went to Car Service City Constantia and spoke with Brent regarding a Knocking Sound on my Suspension. I mentioned that I also need to do a service but that the service was secondary. We booked the car in on Thursday 24 November. Once the 62 point check was done Brent submitted the quotation which included the Cracked Lower Control Arm Bushes "2 cracks on control arm and Worn out bushes". Once the service was done Brent discovered that the Lifters on the engine was damaged due to an incorrect oil filter being fitted at the previous Service Centre. "Kia later confirmed that my Vehicle DOES NOT even have Lifters and this could be seen as a ********** Claim" . We then made a booking for Saturday 26 November for Control Arms.
Saturday Morning at 8am I sent Brent a whatsapp saying I was on my way with vehicle. He responded saying that they emailed me friday to say the part is not available as yet and we would only do the Control Arm on Monday the 28th. I asked for proof of the email as this would cause me to have to take another day off work as my vehicle is essential for my work. They then confessed that no emails were sent and that they would get the part and I should bring the car at 10:30 that Saturday Morning. I wanted to buy the parts from Korean Parts Centre which is 15 meters away from Car Service City "CSC" but Brent said that with something as important as Control Arm Bushes they needed to get the original parts and didnt trust Korean Parts Centre. "I later found out that it was in fact purchased from Korean Part Centre", once again I was **** to.
They competed the repairs within 90 minutes and when I collected the car I asked Brent if he had tested it to which he said YES ALL IS SORTED. I didnt even make it out of the centre when I heard that the noise was still there and I went back to Brent and told him its still there. His Mechanic got in the car "without driving it" twisted the steering wheel abit and diagnosed that it was the Steering rack. Brent could not answer me as to why the steering rack problem was not picked up in the 62 point check that they boast about. Brent said I should take the car back to the dealership where I bought it. I asked Brent for the Old Control Arm and asked where the cracks were. He pointed out 3 spots but each time I wiped the dirt away there were no cracks but just dirt. He then mentioned that the mechanic who knew where the cracks were had already left and he couldnt find it . "he also said the mechanic was the only one who knew about the sound and damage from the lifters because Brent didnt hear it himself".
Monday 28th I took my vehicle to Kia Motors for them to inspect the Control Arm and check the steering rack as CSC had diagnosed the noise as being the Steering Rack " after spending R4800 on their first diagnoses". Kia said that although there was slight wear and tear on the Control Arm Bushes there were no cracks in the Control Arm and worst case is that I could have just replaced the bushes on existing Control Arm " but that wasnt really necessary". Kia tested the Steering Rack and found no issues with that either. KIA later diagnosed it as worn Engine Mountings that needed to be replaced and perhaps Drive Shafts at a later stage.
I went back to CSC and told Brent about this and he said that "Kia would make a statement like that because they are against their "CSC" competition". I then decided to take it a different CSC to be checked. I took it to the one closer to my home "which Brent said I should NOT take it to because its located in a bad area". They confirmed that the Control Arm Bushes did NOT need to be replaced but in order for them to give a full report I would need to book the car in for diagnostics which would cost R550. I didnt have the money so said I would revert later. The manager at this CSC said that during the 62 point check they should have checked the Steering Rack, Drive Shafts, Engine mountings and so much more and that he would send his customers the 62 point check to the client for their reference and he was shocked that Brent didnt pick all this up during their inspection. I then emailed Brent asking for a copy of the 62 point check but he refused to give it.
Reported the Incident to RMI but they said I shoiuld first give Car Service City a chance to rectify issues. More than a week later Car Srrvice City Head Office's solution is that I take the car to a different Car Service City for diagnostic and if I did furthers repairs at THEIR Centre I wouldn'y have to pay for the diagnostics!!!! NO mention of the wasted R4800 on a ********** report and replacement of Control Arms. When I tried calling Lerato at head office I was told that she is not willing to speak to me I should email rather. I emailed once again and still no response.
Now at least I can go to RMI as I have tried to get resolution from Car Service City Head Office. The one positive thing about CSC Constantia was the awesome Car Wash after the service :-(
