I would like assistance with a case of ***** I have with the franchise CAR SERVICE CITY (Modderfontein Branch).

In March 2020 I was shopping for an engine for a Land Rover Discovery 3 on Facebook. A guy named Richard Slow from car service city responded on my post claiming that he has a reconed engine. On our communication he claimed that he was the owner but later discovered that, he was not an owner but a manager.

I then transported my car from East London to car service city modderfontein so that he can do the engine replacement.

We kept in touch via whattsapp and also their landline number. Unfortunately there was the hard lockdown after the car was delivered into their workshop and inter- provincial travel was prohibited without a permit.

I continued making follow ups via whatsapp and landline. He kept on promising and also asking for extensions for collection of the vehicle. In june he then indicated that he is not able to crank the engine of the vehicle. A week later a person claiming to be the new manager called indicating that, Richard the manager I was dealing with has been fired and he is now taking over from Richard. This gentleman promised that they will fix my vehicle I must give them 2 months. Two months passed and the vehicle was not fixed.

I escalated this to the CEO of the franchise MR Grant but also he could not assist.

I have now on the 26th of June 2021 collected the vehicle, this is 15 months later and its not fixed. Parts have been stripped and there is even oil leaks. The owner and the current manager are refusing to take responsibility and are saying I must take this up with the previous manager whom they fired.

I had paid R 58 900 for the repais and they are refusing to refund me.
