Car Service City Modderfontein Poor Service Quality

TLDR; CSC could not get my car right! My car was in 100% working order when I took it there and thanks to their mechanics I left (3 months later) with the check engine light on, eventually taking it somewhere else to have it fixed. After the 3 months they were still unable to fix the problem they made, making plenty excuses along the way and have yet to come back to me with a solution. Do not take your car here!!!

I took my car in to CSC to have a cambelt service done and I decided on CSC Modderfontein since they had pretty good reviews. Maybe those reviews were from people who took their cars there for a minor service, since I have had nothing but terrible service and I will definitely not take my car back there again and recommend that no one does.

My car was taken in on 27 August 2020, and right after they performed the cambelt service the engine light was showing and they told me it was due to the timing, which they were already struggling to get right. After a couple of delays and issues with the timing, I collected my car on 04 September 2020 after they had cleared the check engine light and assured me things were in working order. Before I even got back home, the check engine light came back on. After speaking with them about it on the phone, I quickly found out that they also hadn't put the clip back on the coolant hose. This resulted in the coolant hose disconnecting from the reservoir due to the pressure and spraying coolant all over my engine bay.

I took my car back there and had to wait a couple of days for them to source that pipe since they couldn't just replace the clip, so they sourced it and replaced it and I went back on 07 September 2020 to collect my car with the check engine light cleared and coolant hose replaced. They advised me that this time the check engine light had come back on because of a faulty sensor that needed replacing but all was sorted now. Low and behold on 09 September 2020 the check engine light came back on and my car also started idling erratically once it was warm.

So yet again take my car went back to the workshop for them to again rectify their work and try and get my car in working order. This time the check engine light came back on apparently due to another faulty sensor. They also traced the erratic idling to an issue with the top breather hose being cracked and leaking air. They temporarily fixed the cracked hose with ****py insulation tape (rather than heat treated tape which would have provided a better fix for the crack) which was poorly app**** and came off and the erratic idling started again.

I then had to wait for them to get their timing tool so that they could try resolve the timing issue, which took a couple of days to get. They then claimed that the timing tool had snapped while they were adjusting the timing and had to order a new tool. They got their new timing tool and while adjusting the timing on my car again it snapped and they advised that they needed to order a new one, this time stating that the timing tool would take 3 weeks to come in.

I ended up collecting my car on the 06 October 2020 still with the check engine light on because they could not come right with the timing. I followed up again on 29 October 2020 and 5 November 2020 with the status still being that CSC were waiting for the timing tool. My honest opinion is that they had given up on my car since they had spent so many man hours trying to get my car right and just didn't have the skill set to get it right. It is now the end of December 2020 and I have still not heard back from CSC.

Needless to say, after all the back and forth with CSC and issues they ran into as well as the money they cost me in replacing sensors that they "thought" could have been the issue, I am done with them. I will never take my car back there again.

I ended up taking my car to Fury Ford Fourways and they were able to sort my car out in a day!
