Car No Service City

On the 20th of September I received an email from Car Service City offering a Black Friday special. The offer was 50 percent off on a major service. No dates specified. This email was sent to ***X@******.co.za on 20-11-2023 by Car Service City, (I have masked my email address)

The link on the email provided the opportunity of capturing my vehicles details, my preferred branch and date for the service. After capturing the information and selecting a date, I was informed that I would be contacted by the branch. On the 27th of November, when I had not heard from the Car Service City Branch in Edenvale, I finally phoned them. I explained what I had done to take advantage of the offer and that I had not yet been contacted.

The manager flatly rep**** that the offer was only for Friday the 24th November. When I enquired as to why I had not been contacted, he dismissed my enquiry and reiterated that the special was for Friday the 24th. Disappointed in his dismissal I phoned the Car Service City head office on ***. I was transferred to JP and again explained my situation. JP advised that he would take the query to management and would provide a reply. Today is the 29th Nov and I had not receive any feedback so I decided to contact JP again. As soon as I gave JP my details, he immediately suggested that he had tried to contact me on numerous occasions. I find this very difficult to believe as I did not receive any missed calls or emails, despite having provided all of my details.

JP then stated that Car Service City would not honour my request to take advantage of “the offer”. He did not offer any explanation at all. He just emphasised that management had “made a decision”.

I wonder if Car Service City actually had a Black Friday special. I have no way of verifying whether this was an actual offer or not.

How do you run a vehicle service special for one day and then allow people to capture preferred service dates outside of the date in question. Surely if this was a one day special it would not allow people to capture preferred dates. Most genuine companies would stipulate the duration of their offer. Even Pick n Pay stipulate details for any promotion or offer. This “offer” was either amateurish or ingenuine.

I don’t believe the word service should be included in this company’s title. Unless it stands for lack of service or poor service.

Maybe this was purely a marketing tactic or worse, an attempt to gain peoples information? I would really appreciate if someone in authority at this company could explain their Black Friday OFFER.
