Broken and missing parts after service
I am very dissatisfied with the service I have received from Car Service City Table View. I had recently taken my car in for a service with this company for a major service. As part of the service I was required to walk around the car with one of the mechanics to determine the dents and scratches on my vehicle. Which I did. This happened on Monday the 28th of January. After the inspection I noted two problems that I’m having with my car and asked them to fix and repair them and if it came up to anything above R300 to give me a quote so I could have them repaired at a later stage. Two of the issues I was having with my car included the lights for the passengers visor as well as the drivers visor where not working as well as the nozzle on the left hand side had come loose. Car Service City Table View happily looked at these problems and even fixed the nozzle for my windshield free of charge, which I was extremely happy with however they also informed me that they were unable to fix the visor lights on either side as there was not wireing connecting the lights, fair enough. After I had driven the car home and pulled down my visor as one does when driving, the cover for the drivers visor light had been broken in half and one half fell into my lap. This was a little puzzeling to me as it wasn’t broken when I had taken the car in. Once I had reached home I took a walk around my car (which I park inside a 24 hour secure garage meters away from my front door that no one has access to a side from me and other tenants of the building) I noticed the foglight cover for my car was also missing (this was not listed on the issues I had with the car nore was it noted on the inspection that the mechanic and I did). The next day I went back to car service city table view and on the drive there I also noticed that there was a component hanging from a wire just under the steering wheel. On arrival I queried all the problems that I had with the service that had provided and they were less than helpful. So I took it into my own hands and emailed the head office of car service city. I spoke to one of their employees and she asked me to provide pictures of the missing foglight and the broken visor light (which I happily did). She then wrote back to me saying “We regret to inform you that we cannot assist with this query as the component as shown below is not part of the scope of work performed or the checks conducted during the 62 point safety check nor part of our handover inspection.” This to me is unacceptable! So in this email they’re saying if they decide to run your car into a wall they won’t take any responsibility for it because it’s not part of the 62 point safety check? Or if they happen to drive your car over a nail while servicing it they aren’t obligated to pay for the repair of the tyre because that’s also not part of the 62 point safety check? To me it’s not the fact that they’ve broken and lost pieces of my car, it’s the fact that they’ve taken no responsibility for replacing or repairing what they’ve broken and lost. I very easily went and replaced the foglight cover after receiving that email, but that’s not the point. I would like this bussines to take some responsibility.
