Car Doctor Poor Workmanship
My Renault Modus has always been a reliable car I think its because the previous owner always serviced it from the Dealer. Oneday the car starting making a terrible noise, I noticed it only happend when driving for a while. And we decided to send it to a Mechanic, but my Husband was working long hours and Car Doctor was around the corner.
My Husband recommended Troo Fit because they did an excellent job on the cars clutch, we were both so Impressed
But I was quite impressed with Toms adverti*****t billboard at Macdonalds. And I thought Car Doctor is closer. I was warned by someone saying that they wont recommend Tom as they know of alot of unhappy customers. But I thought that that he looks like a honest man. It just goes to show how looks can be deceiving. Then I took it to Tom in May 2018 asking him to please diagnose the problem and repair.
He said he will give the car a full check up. He called me to say the 3 engine mountings is faulty, it needs to be replaced. And I need a new pully and he will give my car a full service and change all the Bulbs He billed me about R10 000. I left during my lunch to collect the car and after I left Car doctor with my car, I got onto the N1 thats when my car lost power and white smoke came out of the back and the cars warning light came on with the oil icon and a note saying stop.
I had no choice but to pull over. I 1st tried phoning my Husband but he was unable to take the call, then I called Tom who told me to drive the car in that condition back. I then drove the car in 1st gear because when I drove faster the car would lose power and stop. When I returned to Car Doctor Tom apologized because it was their error. They saw to the problem then I left to return to work. I was so excited to have my car back, when I took the turn the car made a terrible noise, which was the reason I took my car to Car Doctor to be repaired.
I actually cried, because I needed my car and I realized that Tom is not who he claimed to be. I phoned him and he said it cant be and I must then have the wheels checked at Supa quik. I took it to Sups quik and they found the problem. The right wheels brakes was split in half. I took it back to Tom and had to pay over R2000 to have the Brakes done. He was offended when I asked him for my cars parts which he eventually gave. The pully was still in a good condition and there was nothing wrong with the cars engine mountings. The cars bulbs dont work and he charged me in his invoice to reset the cars service light.
Less then 6mths later, the cars engine mounting break. My Husband took it back and demand they fix it. After argueing they decide to fix it and 6 weeks later it breaks again.
Now please tell me how is it that if you pay for a Service, you dont mind to spend money on a quality job because you know in the end its worth it. Currently now its broken again and my car was suppose to have 3 new engine mountings put in 8mths ago. The engine mountings being lose might have caused damage now to the Gearbox as theres a leak. I believe Tom uses cheap parts and used parts as the one engine mounting looks old, but its suppose to be 8mths old. My car is not a Luxury its a need and my car has always been reliable. I wish I listened when I was warned. Please learn from my mistake.
