unauthorised debit order

I recently discovered that a monthly debit order was reflecting on my bank account. Following a query with my bank i was given the contact details for Car Assist. I called and was told that i had a policy for roadside assistance on a vehicle that i had previously owned - the problem was:<br> 1. I never agreed to a policy with Car Assist<br> 2. The said vehicle was traded in years ago<br> 3. My account had been debited for a number of years.<br> i immediately emailed and requested this debit order to be cancelled - i also requested proof that i had taken this policy by way of the recording of the phone call. To date i have received no feedback.<br> HOWEVER - this month they have changed the reference number and debited my account AGAIN. <br> The bank has informed me that this is common practice - i cannot believe companies can rob us so blindly and get away with it.
