???????????? prescribed without my knowledge

Hi I have a problem with Capfin I took a loan with them in 2013 if I’m not mistaken but I remember paying it off in 2015. Recently I tried applying for credit elsewhere and I was advised that I owe Capfin I call them to find out what the issue is and how I could clear my name. They told me there’s nothing they could do for me as I have been prescribed. With my understanding presentation gets issued if a creditor cannot get hold of the the person that owes them. Which was not the case not one attempted to contact me cause if that was the case I would have made arrangements for payments.
