NSFAS Allowance Taken Despite Being Assured Installment Reduction
I had a conversation with a Capfin agent in April wherein I explained I had lost my job, was a student and had no income. That I only got my NSFAS allowance of R1900 per month in April and had planned to request my installment to be adjusted. We agreed on R479 to be deducted from the 24th of May and was assured that was my new instalment. I was also informed I could not reverse the R1202.12 that had already been deducted. It's been extremely tough. Now I got my NSFAS allowance yesterday, and with it came another deduction of R1202.12 despite having requested a reduction and explained my situation. Am writing exams in a week. Have barely any money for food and R700 left won't cover even the basics I need. I wrote to Capfin and got an email response saying my installment cannot change. I don't understand because that is not the discussion I had with them previously and there had been an option to change one's installment last time I checked. Please attend to this urgently. I'm extremely frustrated as I am busy with my exams, have no money and had planned to start a small business so I can make a bit of extra money to see me through and pay some of my debts. I am willing to provide proof of unemployment, proof am an NSFAS beneficiary and proof of the amounts agreed upon.
