Poor customer experience

On Sunday I purchased a pair of trainers. I asked for a size 5 and this is what was labelled on the box. The next day I did a short walk and got blisters as the shoes were too big. When I got home I checked the inside of the shoes which were labelled 38 - which I understand to be a size six. (I do realise i should have checked - but I have reliably worn size 5's for 35 years).

I contacted the store, explained that the wrong size must have been placed in the size 5 box and that I had worn the shoes on a short walk. The person I spoke to said it was no problem and she was sure they would exchange them I should just bring them in.

I returned them to the store where I was rudely informed that size 5 is a 38 and the shoes could not be exchanged as they had been worn. This interchange was embarassing and I would not have brought the shoes in if I had not been informed telephonically that my complaint was valid and the shoes could be exchanged even if they had been worn.

Disappointed that you put me through that Cape Union Mart.
