Missing the point of convenience

online shopping is supposed to be an easy, efficient and conveniant experience. Shopping at Cape Union Mart is, to my great dismay, has been fraught with illogical miscalculations and a business completely oblivious about customer service.

i purchased goods online, and made a transaction through their online shop. I received no confirmation of order or a message signalling that my order is out for delivery. After the period with which it was supposed to be delivered passed, I contacted customer service. An automated email promised me assistance within 24hrs. Two days pass and I get an email asking for proof of purchase.

Their finance department is so confused and befuddled they don't even realise I can't send a proof of payment, because the payment went through the site of the merchant. I contact FNB and they tell my in contact message is the only proof I can give. 20 minutes of airtime later!

I email C.U.M and let them know, then they miraculously fixed the error on my side and the goods will be dispatched today.

How do they know what I ordered? Because my account on their website says "you have placed no orders". I don't even have an order number, or an invoice. My money is up in the air, swallowed by their incompetence.

Good day Jean

We are so terribly sorry to hear of this disappointing experience you have had with your online order. It is certainly not the service we would want any customer to have when shopping with us online. We will look into this and forward it to the relevant managers.

We will ensure that this is seen to as soon as possible and the team work on rectifying the delay.

As soon as we have resolved the order we will contact you.

The Cape Union Mart Team
