Hidden costs/fees of Cape Union Mart card special

Cape Union Mart (CUM) advertises that you get R 600 in vouchers if you get a CUM card. My brother (mathematician) and I (medical doctor) as well as my girlfriend (senior fund manager) app****. The staff assured us (Canal Walk) that there are no costs involved, except if your card remains in arrears. When I picked up my card (with my girlfriend present) I once again asked if there are no fees in the small print/ hidden, and the answer was again no. I made my purchase and paid for the item in full on the spot (with voucher discount). I still jokingly told the staff members present, that the last thing I want is to get a sms in a month's time saying I owe this or that. They laughed and said, that'll never happen. But that is now exactly what is happening. I have received a hard copy bill from CUM and RCS (no idea who they are) for R 118 (including a hidden R100 initiation fee!!!) as well as sms'es threatening me with legal action for non-payment! I have written emails to both CUM and RCS twice (27 July, 4 Aug 2015) No response. My brother got a bill of R 500+ , but he's never even been to fetch his card! In these days of decent customer protection, this product of CUM is a disgrace.
