Foggy transparency

I've read a number of reviews concerning Cape Union Mart's shady credit card practices, and I am sad to say that I have also been a victim. The opening of an RCS Cape Union Mart card is promised to be a safe and easy process, at the end of which R600 worth of vouchers are provided. Sounds too good to be true? Well, it is.

After asking the sales associate at Cape Union Mart Nicolway (Johannesburg) on a number of occasions whether I would be charged any monthly fees even if I have not taken any item out on credit, I was repeatedly assured that this would not be the case. I even took the time to read the fine print and did not find this "service fee charge"mentioned anywhere. A few months later, I receive an email out of the blue from RCS stating that my account is in a delinquent status and that I have to repay R181.

This is completely unacceptable practice, reminiscent of the McKinsey's, Trillian's and KPMG's of South Africa. Where are your apparently transparent principles , Cape Union Mart? Your brand is great, but definitely not worth this ************ness and I will encourage everyone I know never to purchase from you again.,
