Discriminatory Retail

I am a permanently employed permanent resident living in South Africa. I needed to buy some camping equipment in Eastgate Shopping Mall. The store manager asked me to apply for a Cape Union Mart card, which I could use to pay for the goods. After a week the company had not responded and I went into the store to enquire. I was shocked to be told that the company only sells its cards to South African citizens only! I was told I do not qualify because I am non South African. White colleagues that I go on trips with, recommended the store to me. Though they are non South African, they have store cards - so I was really enraged by this experience. I am a permanent resident with a stable job. I even have a car financed by the Banks and a house. I distaste the discriminatory nature of this retail, after all the retail business can only grow if they dispense their services without **************. I have concluded that Cape Union see nationality coloured South African Rands! They can cut off my foot if they see me inside their shop again!

I wouldlike to register my appreciation for the responsive and professional way in which the Cape Union Mart team addressed my concerns. I am verygrateful the the issue I reported was resolved amicably. I would like to hope that in future they train their services so that they do not wait for complaints before responding.
