Appalling service
I purchased a K-Way Orion 3-in-1 jacket from Cape Union Mart Tygervalley store. The sales consultant that assisted me on the day advised me that should any damage occur to the duck-down inner, that Cape Union Mart would be able to repair it, as they had a repair factory located somewhere in Cape Town. On the 24th April 2021, I accidently hooked the inner jacket which tore it slightly on one panel on the back of the jacket. The following day, I took it straight to Cape Union Mart Tygervalley for repairs. I was advised by the lady that assisted me that I would need to pay R250 now as a deposit, and that it would cost an additional R100 per panel that would need replacing (so R100 as only one panel was damaged) and that the repair would take between 6-8 weeks. She also advised that the people performing the repair would be in contact with me to accept this quote, and that I could contact the branch to follow up on the process with a lady by the name of Chloe. I then phoned Chloe on the 5th May 2021, however, she was not available and was told she would contact me the following day. By the 7th May 2021, I still had not heard anything and contacted her again. She advised that if I could send her the original receipt from the purchase, she would be able to speed up the process of the repair. On the 13th May 2021, I sent through the receipt and Chloe acknowledged receipt and advised that she would be in contact. On the 31st May 2021 (into the 6th week of repairs), I sent through a follow up email to Chloe as I had had no feedback. She advised that unfortunately the repair factory did not have material and that I could purchase a brand new jacket at 60% of the purchase cost. By my estimation, this would be at a cost of around R2,000!!! After already paying R3,000 for the jacket and R250 for a non-existent repair, plus I don’t have the jacket. To say I am appalled by the service I have received is an understatement! Six weeks of the ‘repair time’ only to be told that it cannot be repaired, even though I was assured that it could be repaired if damaged as part of the sales pitch in the first place. I had no issue paying R350 to have the jacket repaired.

Thank you, after logging this complaint, the Tygervalley branch reached out and exchanged the jacket, which is more than we expected. It is a pity that one has to go to these lengths to get service, but we are happy that the issue has finally been resolved.
