Food Poisoning

As a birthday surprise (Sunday), my husband took myself and my 6 year old daughter to CTFM Tokai for sushi and a meal. Have been to most CTFM branches but have never been to the Tokai branch so it was a first for all three of us. The reason he chose the Tokai branch is for the sushi on the conveyor belf. My daughter had nagged weeks before to eat at a sushi restaurant with a conveyor belt. So there we were, husband orders the rib meal to share and myself and my daughter sit at the sushi bar. She chose the 4pcs inside out rolls (california) and i had the tempura fried sushi (4 pcs). Firstly, all i could taste was the sweet and sour chilly - it was overpowering any other flavour from the tempura; the wasabi was not strong at all, very light green in colour and very little rice vinegar as used in making the rolls.

Afterwards, i felt slightly nauseous and totally lost my appetite for the sushi . My daughter only had the 3 of the 4 pieces, which is strange because she loves sushi. Asked her why she didn't want any more sushi and she told me that it didn't taste right, it wasn't good sushi. I ate her last piece and it was bland, even with the wasabi and soy sauce.

Not thinking anything of it, Monday rolled around and by late afternoon both she and i were sick to our stomach. She vomited, had a slight fever and had loose stool with heavy cramps. Myself had heavy cramps and very loose stool. My husband did not have sushi so he was ok. The only thing we ate different was the sushi.

Thinking back, while we sat at the conveyor belt, i had thought to myself that the sushi chef was wasting a lot of sushi rice after making a roll and pressing the rice, he would move over to the very unhygienic black dirt bin next to him and wipe off the excess rice. We have made sushi at home and that is way too much rice to wipe off ones hands. Also, there is no variety on the conveyor belt, absolutely no maki's.

As for us returning or referring anyone - not going to happen. we have had the worst first experience possible at CTFM Tokai.
