BEWARE THE SPINACH!

I ordered a starter portion of fishcakes with tartar sauce and side salad as a light lunch. I then ordered creamed spinach as an additional item. This was presented in a bowl on the plate. Upon tasting the spinach, I found it was inedible. My husband also tasted it and agreed with me. It appeared to taste of soap. I mentioned this to our waitron and said it was not acceptable and I did not want a replacement portion. I was very pleased to be offered a complimentary cup of filter coffee. In general, the quality of the food was not particularly notable. Upon leaving, my husband was charged for the inedible creamed spinach, and he pointed out that the item in question had in fact been returned to the kitchen and not consumed. The service was friendly if a little slow. The staff did not have name badges so I am unaware of their names. We were not impressed and will probably not return.
