Cape Shade Cpt Quality and Warranty/Guarantee Issues
Without Prejudice
Hi Consumers.
Anyone planning to use the services of Cape Shade Cpt please read the “fine print” (T&C’s) in relation to the Warranties and Guarantees of their products you may potentially buy. It would appear that they are more interested in invoking them instead of “standing by” their product and subsequently their reputation.
In my dealings with Other, different Service Providers and Manufacturers, I have had brilliant services on the whole.
That shows Us customers which Companies are passionate about their Products and Workmanship. Great for “word of mouth” and future sales.
The normal response from other companies has been to assess the products defects/failures and in most, if not all cases, they have rectified the defects, thereby standing by their products integrity.
Problems and flaws are bound to happen occasionally.
The same cannot be said for Cape Shade Cpt in my instance. After 3years and 10 months I have experienced two different issues with my installation where the material Stitching and Tension Cable System have started to fail. This was pointed out to Cape Shade Cpt who came and inspect the products.
Following up it was said the problem fell outside of the Warranty hence them taking no responsibility for the said issues, but instead offer to remove and repair the products at a great expense to me.
The products they offer aren’t cheap. One would have expected that they would “back” their products quality and acknowledge that the materials and or the manufacturing process has been compromised. Instead the “go to” position they adopt is to blame other factors for the failures.
❗️Remember that it’s only 3 years and 10 months old. ❗️
To clarify, the Fabric Material (Material Covering) used is still fine but the same cannot be said for the Stitching and Cable tensioning system they use in the Manufacturing Process.
What Cape Shades Cpt fails to understand is that their product is an Investment for their customers.
It’s purchased, not as a “consumable item” but rather as a long term solution.
Again it’s not a cheap product.❗️❗️
The Company (Cape Shade Cpt) has invoked its warranty clause and refused to fix the problem without me having to pay for the repairs. That communication was sent to me via email by the company’s Managing Director stating they would do it at cost.
That amounts to a R5960.00 +- cost we would need to spend within a 3 year and 10 month period of use.
Completely Unacceptable in my opinion.
Being a Pensioner, I refused that offer as we cannot afford to be spending that kind of money every 3 to 4 years because of the product deteriorating over such a short period of time considering the purpose it was bought for.
That’s an unaffordable and unreasonable situation for anyone to have to deal with as I’m sure anyone else who has had this problem can attest to. The “Cape Shade Cpt” product was purchased as a Long Term solution and Definitely not as something that was going to fail after 3 to 4 years.
Had we know this, their product/coverings would never have been considered. We would have instead opted for a far more robust and durable alternative.
Consider this and any product carefully as it has proven not to be a longer term solution for your home. Please check the warranty and guarantee statements they subscribe to. It’s appears to be inflexible in-spite of their sales claims that it’s designed for the “Harsh Weather Conditions“ that we can experience in the Western Cape.
Quoting “wind speeds” tolerances for their designs is academic as it’s a very subjective statement and open to interpretation as is the “harsh weather” conditions statement.
Read the T&C’s very Carefully and do your homework.
Just Saying.
It’s a Very disappointing outcome for what we hoped would be a long term and aesthetically pleasing experience.
Cape Shades Cpt have Definitely not endeared themselves to us.
Very Disappointed Customer.
