Stunning Views but Serious Safety issues...Only 1 star cause zero wasn't an option
<p>T****e Tol at the Limietberg Nature Reserve has been a sanctuary for my family for the past 30 years (longer than I’ve even been alive). A tranquil abode with picturesque views to which we would retreat to get break and peace from the ‘hustle and bustle’ of City life. A place where we felt safe and at ease and received excellent service from the Park Rangers which all evoked our continuous return. However, to our dismay, on our most recent visit over Easter Weekend (30 March to 2 April 2018) we were victim to an awful theft at the reserve that put a damper on our entire weekend. Our once happy place filled with blissful memories suddenly turned bitter and became extremely unpleasant. According to the warden(s) there’s been incidents prior but they failed to mention this…had we been fore warned, we could’ve been more vigilant and cautious. To add to this, they could quickly warn us about ******s upon entering but nothing about any previous theft incidents. The burglars entered the campsite from outside the reserve; hence, the reserve is not secured. During the evenings there is one or two wardens (NO security guards) at the reserve in case of any emergencies but what we’ve discovered is that they’re not equipped to manage any emergencies. They have a list of emergency contact numbers but this was not close at-hand and first had to be found before the police could even be informed. The security guards that previously roamed the reserve were let go to cut costs. The major items ****** included a road bike and mountain bike. Although the items ****** was of great value, fortunately, none of us were physically harmed. Had any of us disturbed or caught the ******* who knows what they may have done. Our experience at the reserve this time was ultimately displeasing and traumatic. We will no longer recommend camping at T****e Tol as it is not safe. Cape Nature has yet to respond to our complaint or the incident that occurred and aren’t accepting any accountability for the security issues. Their non-responsiveness is appalling and our ultimate experience was poor! My question is what is our conservation fee covering and why are your visitors not protected?</p>
