Cape Milner - assaulted by the front of house manager.

On 18/08/23 After a birthday dinner at Kloof st house my business partner and I decided to check in at the Cape Milner for the night. We arrived after midnight and were greeted by the front of house manager who requested identification. My business partner was unable to show an original document as she had had her bag ****** recently but was travelling woth a certified copy which she had used to fly to CT from JHB. The front of house manager refused to accept this. We asked to speak to his superior but were told he was the person in charge. An argument ensued and we were asked to leave, and actually shoved out of the lobby. We brought this to the attention of the General manager, Wouter explaining that we are regulars, not only have we stayed on multiple occasions but we have also booked the board room and many occasions and have met clients in the restaurant in the past. Wouter took no responsibility and when pressed responded that the matter had been dealt with internally. What I found so incredibly unprofessional about the approach of senior management was that nobody had made contact with me nor had anybody apologised for kicking us out into the dark CT streets. I had filmed the entire experience and made it known that I had the footage to back up our version of the story but nobody requested it from me. This is the second time this has taken place in our circle, previously to a close associate who’s bags we’re actually in his room but he was not allowed in as he had no indent of ovation in him. As hospitality consultants we are astonished at the poor response from Wouter even after I personally engaged with him, informing him that I was effectively assaulted his only response was that the matter was dealt with internally, no further reply to my messages. My advice is to choose one of the many alternative Hotels in the City centre who value their customers. Wouters WhatsApp status reads “exceptional” @Wouter there is absolutely nothing exceptional about you boy. You won’t be seeing any of us again and we will be going out of our way to advise our clients to stay as far away from Cape Milner as possible.
