Our house had a leak around the toilet floor. We tried to see if we could fix it but none of our solutions seem to work. We then realised that the leak is starting to show in the passage as well in the sense that you could pick up damp marks against the wall close to the floor level. We decided to get a leak detection company in and contacted Cape Leak Detection on 15 April 2016. They forwarded us a booking form to be completed as well as an amount of R995.00 to be paid upfront. This amount would apparently cover the call out inspection as well as a report identifying the problem areas and then off course a quote to fix the areas. We paid the money and the inspection was done with the report following a few days later. Accoding to this report the toilet was cracked below the tiles causing the leak around the toilet. Recommendation was that the toilet had to be replaced. Furthermore the shower floor was leaking and the recommendation was that the shower floor had to be lifted and be resealed and that the shower trap had to be checked. According to the quote submitted before the actual report was submitted, the cost amounted to R6'120.00. We thought this was expensive and as the plumbing forms part of the structure insurance we cointacted the bank and asked them to send out a plumber to verify in order for them to pay. The plumber arrived and his reply within 5 minutes was that the toilet was not leaking and that we should ask the bank to send another leak detection company. We got another plumber in which opened underneath the bath and found out that some piping came loose that was connected to the taps. No leaks to either the toilet or the shower. It cost us over and above the R995, approx R2'400 to repair the piping, close up the bath and redo the tiles. On 10 May we send a mail to Marelize from Cape Leak Detection inidcating to them that their report was incorrect and that we would want our money back. No response. We mailed Marelize again on 22 June 2016, referring to our previous mail and requested a reimbur*****t of our money due to a ********** report. No response. We will after this contact City of Cape Town as they these days require plumbing certificates when you sell your house as well as the Plumbing Association. NEVER DEAL WITH CAPE LEAK DETECTION. THEY ARE **********!!!!
