304 Namaqua House Cape Town Service

Things that have worked: - the room overall is comfortable. - the furniture in the room is up to expected standard. Room is really lovely.

Things that were appalling: - I wasn’t expected on arrival. Arrived 2 hours early and there was much confusion. Albeit this got resolved. - The room I booked was not the room I was placed in. I was subsequently downgraded to 101B. Picture see attached view. Apparently my booked and paid room was given to someone else. I can’t understand why the someone else could not be shifted around. The manager who clearly is used to charming is way out of mishaps always wanted to talk while I just wanted things fixed. - appalling view and limited ventilation. Apparently according to the manager I’m the first to complain about the bathroom facing some staircase which has people going up and down fairly frequently. Another issue that the manager said he would look into Monday and a week later nothing. Glossed over this issue with a fan. I guess the fan does help cool the room somewhat. The rooftop view I was told is not an issue at all and will be cleaned. A lot of talking and little action. Makes we wonder if this is the standard offered to guests or whether I was just profiled as a local and the thought was like whatever. - it actually funny. My daughter and I play this game of what can they surprise us with. Our surprises included ****roaches, even though room is clean and no dirty dishes. They’re always small, but there are roaches. Happy to get pictures if you don’t believe me. Weekends are extremely noisy. Not sure if this is room specific or just general area. The worst of it was Monday and Tuesday night secondary **** smoking. That was awful and disgusting. We were literally choked up from the smell. - Cleaning. I once stayed in a remote out of access lodge in the bundus of Limpopo and even they had cleaning daily. The ladies would either take a stroll up to the cabin or they would be driven up. I was told cleaning here is once a week and if I wanted it more frequently it would be at an additional cost. What they took from my complaint of saying I was happy to do it myself if required was to ensure I had the right supplies. Broom, domestos, etc was supp****. At least I guess but missing the point entirely. So if I’m staying the weekend the room will be cleaned frequently but for long stay once a week? Notably non of these policies are documented anywhere. Seems like we make the rules as we go along. Manager was more concerned that I had included others in my correspondence rather than my actual issues. - my current issue making me send messages at insane time. I’m here with my daughter who studies during the day. WiFi has been a daily struggle. Usually working intermittently and then in between not at all. She hasn’t been able to use the laptop and has been studying from the phone mainly. Again the managers response to this is that it appears that WiFi in that room is the problem. This is largely stating the obvious as I am well aware of how amazing the WiFi was on the other floors. Again recall issue no 1 that this is not the room that I booked in the first place. The WiFi has not been working at all since about 7pm and managers latest response is for me to contact service provider. How am supposed to do this. I pay the service provider? I app**** with this service provider? And everyone is fixated on this can be handled in the morning. We not doing my insomnia any good. I don’t know if this is a Cape Town issue but have not experienced bad WiFi anywhere else in the surrounding. I’m trying to understand why nobody cares that we don’t have WiFi in the times we’re in.
