DEPOSIT REPAYMENT

4 Weeks ago - I rented a car (Aveo)from Cape Car Rental - paid the deposit of R1 000 and the rental immediately. Collected the car. From day 3 the car had to be pushed to start. Called them - they did not have another car for me - and unfortunately I needed a car so had to stick with the pushing to start car. Yesterday I called as no-one had called me to enquire as to my banking details to refund my deposit. I was then told that my deposit would not be repaid because last year I also rented a car - someone drove into me - my deposit was being kept for the fixing of that car (Polo)- and the deposit which I paid last year was also kept. Last year I kept on calling Cape Car Rental (Essie) to enquire as to the amount of the damages - no-one EVER got back to me and now a year later - they are refusing to refund my deposit for the rental of another car. I once wanted to change the car - and was told that EACH RENTAL is on its own - "head office" has been saying for 2 days they will get back to me. I asked for a copy of their "receipt" for the fixing of the polo - I will gladly pay what is due - but their "terms" are as it suits them - when you want to change cars - you must pay a deposit on each car - you cannot transfer the deposit - but now they are "transferring" my deposit - their whole demeanour is one of "they are doing you a favour to rent a car to you." I know now that I will NEVER EVER rent from them again - they might be cheap but their cars are "cheap" and unreliable.
