Canyon to Kruger tour: (14 - 17 Dec)

"The tourguide and his wife have a good concept, but the execution was very very very very poor!

1. The group was too big (19 vehicles in the convoy) 2. No two-way radios 3. We were very unhappy with the tourguide's time management. 4. Most of the itinerary was not done. Their adverti*****ts in this regard is false. 5. When one tour member dared to voice his complaints (16 Dec), he was called a "TAMPON" in the presence of other tour members. He also addressed this man by saying he is "sh*tting in his panty", and all the while in the presence of young children. 6. On day 2 (16 Dec) we travelled 10 hours without a proper lunch break, we left the camp @ 9h00, with the promise that this day will be a short day. At 19h00 as soon as we hit a tar road, we waved goodbye. Yes, we did say it was because of me having a bad flu, but the main reason was that we could not stand the absolute incompetency of the tour guide.

After we hit the tar road, the tour members still had to drive another 40+ km to the camp where they will overnight. They only reached their camp site at 21h30.

On the very same night when we left the group, at least 8 other couples also left. Therefore it was not only us being unhappy...

I want to mention: the tour guide consumed a lot of alcohol during this particular day. At one stage (after we already left) the convoy reached a police road block, and had the tour leader and his wife to switch places quickly.

Also: there were an old age couple in our group, and I felt so sorry for them, especially on day 2 (16 Dec), where we spent 12½ hours on the road, covering only 80km+-. There were people with small children as well.

This was the worst ever tour we have ever done! I am totally for small entrepreneurs, and don't like badmouthing businesses, but I feel that I need to warn other people travelling far distances to tick a bucket list item.

In the aftermath: I wanted to post a Facebook or Tripadvisor review, to warn other tourists, but could not find a forum to do so. I am of firm belief that tourists should be warned against these people. On their Facebook group they have this discussion, stating that it is difficult to satisfy everybody, that we were the cause of the hold ups, and in effect that we were wrong!

I did make a post on my person facebook profile, staying our negative experience. NB: I did not mention their names, or the name(s) of their business. Not soon after a friend profile "Canyon Tours" (which was created this morning) commented under my post, threatening to sue us for Crimen Injuria.

They operate under 3 different names: 1. Mega Tracks 4x4 2. Canyon Tours Graskop 3. Canyon to Kruger

The tour leader is: Tinus van Staden from Graskop His wife is: Charlaine van Staden from Graskop.
