Extremely Poor User Experience

A while ago I bought a Canon MG3640 Pixma Printer However I'm really disappointed with the overall experience. I'm a software developer, I know my way around a PC and a printer, but to get this thing printing is a nightmare. There's different hacks that need to be done just to get a few pages to print. Then the next time I need to print, those hacks don't work I have to try other things.

I've hardly used it and it's already started struggling to pull paper and says that it out of paper even when there is paper and it's placed as far in as possible. When a page finishes printing the tray is not long enough and the pages end up being pushed past it onto the floor (yes, the tray is extended all the way)
