CANON product failure or just poor printers?

I bought a CANON Maxify MB2040 printer from DEON wired and shortly after it was out of warranty, the printer developed a Support Code Error 5200. I could not use it further.

I send the printer for repair to a service technician that is accredited to work on CANON and other major brands, just to be told that this particular model is problematic and that he had literally 3 standing currently on his desk with the same problem. He believed it to be a product issue. I was advised to go to DEON Wired where I bought it and ask them to send it in for repair, but DEON told me to take it directly to the Repair center because it is out of warranty and I was not prepared to pay R500 for DEON book-in charge.

CANON's repair center is called Part Serve in Linbro business park and they told me to book it in for an assessment. The Service technician confirmed that the Support Code error 5200 is a faulty head or ink receivable system. Either way, the head would cost R1422,00 excluding any repair center costs.

Repairs of close to R2000 for a printer which cost R3000 and seeming having a product error. This is the type of service one can expect from a brand like CANON. I am left now to purchase a printer, but certainly will not buy a CANON ever again.
