CANON - poor quality - ******* repair quote.

Canon MFP Pixma purchased Dion Wired - 1/9/2016 for R750. Low usage - approx 10 pages per week - in excellent condition. Stops working 20/ 1 / 2018 - 5 months outside of guarantee. Taken to Dion Wired. Quote from CANON to repair R1189. R439 more than the purchase price!!! Dion Wired sales manager - "This could be because it is an old model" !!!! Is this planned obsolescence ??
