Canon not doing as they claim

Bought a Canon Legria HFR86 as well as a Legria HFR76 in 2018 as they both support WIFI and can be operated via a cellphone just what I need for my demonstration classroom. Turns out these new cameras (Bought in 2018) are only compatible with Samsung S4 and older phones, so a new camera, but you need an ancient phone, or it just wont work. Phoned Canon Head Office, but nobody can help because everyone in in training. So I bought R10k worh of video cameras, for the purpose advertised, yet, you need a cell phone from 6 years ago to make them work, and they no longer come with a remote, the app is the remote. Is it not easier for Canon to include a remote rather than for me to find a antique cellphone? or how about just updating the App? its only 6 years out dated...
