Think twice before considering buying a Canon product

Just some friendly advice to consider before you buy any Canon product. I recently purchased a Canon printer through a reputable dealer (Take a Lot). From the very beginning this printer gave me problems. The print quality is poor and it would not print the selected size. I tried all sorts of settings and even had to pay an IT expert to try and resolve the problem without any success. It also has a problem with paper jams so much so that I can not clear the paper jam. I contacted Canon customer care/service center and explained my problem. I only got a response nearly a week later. After some lengthy e-mail correspondence the long and the short of it is that Canon expects me to take the printer to the nearest service center for assessment at my cost, irrespective of where I stay. Should I not be able to take it to the service center, Canon will collect and deliver it at a cost of R430.00, which I think is absurd, given the value of the printer. Canon was given every opportunity to provide an acceptable customer service, which obviously is not important enough to them. Next time you consider buying a Canon product, think again
