5 due dates to collect my car have been missed in a period of a month and on two occasions the car was sent back for unacceptable work. I will outline everything below - 10 February, the car was handed in this morning. I have WhatsApp communication with Liza confirming the repair would take an estimated 8 working days. In the workshop, I asked if it would really take 8 days and was informed verbally that it was unlikely that it would take that long. I received a rental car from my insurance company that was due to go back on 20 February (8 working days) - 19 February, 15:00. 2h before the shop closes I call to confirm my car will be ready the next day as the rental was expiring. I was told that an additional part had be ordered and had been app**** for with the insurance company. I received no communication and luckily got hold of the insurance company in time to extend the rental until 28 February "just to be safe", as quoted by Zulfa - I had a work trip and had to fly to Durban and was only able to return on 05 March. I will note that I was receiving automated email communication to tell me that the vehicle was moving through stages to be completed, but no personal call or WhatsApp message was sent to inform me that the date would have been missed again. If I still had the rental, I would've had to extend again (if my insurance would have even approved this). To be clear, I did not disclose that I was in Durban to Cannings either 05 March, I inform Cannings that I will be arriving home that evening and make an immediate payment for the excess and some additional work to pay out of my own pocket before 13:00 and arrangements were made to receive the car after hours. I received a WhatsApp to say that "we had a very unfortunate incident with your vehicle" from Zulfa and a courtesy car was left for me 06 March, I receive a WhatsApp from Zulfa to say my car is ready for collection. I go to inspect it and the panels do not line up (by at least 2mm in 3 locations). I explain to someone in the workshop that it is unacceptable and then request to speak to the manager and say that this is now the 4th incident and I want my car attended to correctly. I had to leave for the weekend and required to keep the courtesy car 07 March, while away, my phone and the courtesy car keys were ******, we made arrangements (at my own expense) to get the spare car keys to me 11 March, Cannings get's in contact with my insurance company to ask when I will collect the car (as they are looking for payment) via email through Tracy and Ross. Later that day I went into the workshop and was informed by the same person in the workshop with the same manager standing next to him that he cannot bring the car out as the vehicle is still not in acceptable condition. I was also told by the same manager that we would have to quote me on the replacement car keys for the courtesy car (they are for a VW UP!, of which I can see cheap replacements in far better condition are available for less than R300 online) after I asked what a key would cost

I do not deny that the key is my responsibility despite the theft being beyond my control (it also wouldn't have happened had they not missed the 4th consecutive due date). Everything above is in their control and a far less than acceptable effort has been made on their behalf to rectify any of this

I do see that they deny poor communication in other reviews, I am subsequently happy to upload screenshots of WhatsApp conversations and emails outlining everything above should they choose to deny it here publicly

A reminder, 5 missed due dates (one with an automated email message to indicate what stage of the repairs it was in, one WhatsApp to explain the "unfortunate incident" and no other personal communication. I have taken time out of my work day to show up on multiple occasions now. They are capable of making personal contact with insurance companies when they are interested in payment, however it is nearly non existent with the client who's money they've had for 6 days and car for a month

Worth the possible hassle?
