CANDY is *******

Absolute disgusting after sales service. It's been weeks of trying to get them to help with fixing their ******* machine (the second candy washing machine in a month by the way. The 1st one blew up in smoke on the 1st use, the second one worked for 2 weeks). Kgomotso Sithole from Candy is absolutely useless in assisting and their technical team also never answers. Try calling the line they provided for all these weeks, daily, yet it never works. Makes you hold for 10 minutes and the cuts out. Try calling back, same thing happens. Do not purchase any Candy Products under Mastercare. They are flimsy, cheap and you will not be able to get it repaired or replaced as it seems it is a ghost town at this company. Pathetic indeed.

On the 4th of November 2022 my ex husband purchased me a washing machine from Takealot. On the 23rd of November the machine stopped working and we contacted Takealot for a return on order **********73. That is within the 30 day period. The machine is still under warranty. Takelot's response was that we need to contact the supplier, which we did and have had no contact from them to come and take this machine (which was returned twice - the 1st one blew up in smoke on the 1st use). My ex husband requested the product to be fetched and credited as the brand, Candy, seems to be *******. It's flimsy and breaks for nothing, I mean 2 machines in a matter of weeks. Takealot return policy is 30 days. We were well within our 30 days. They refused to deal with the matter. The CPA states:

Section 56 (2) of the Consumer Protection Act, No 68 of 2008 reads as follows:
“Within six months after the delivery of any goods to a consumer, the consumer may return the goods to the supplier, without penalty, and at the supplier’s risk and expense, if the goods fail to satisfy the requirements and standards contemplated in section 55 (Consumers rights to safe, good quality goods) and the supplier must, at the direction of the consumer, either:
Repair or replace the failed, unsafe, or defective goods, or
Refund to the consumer the price paid by the consumer for the goods.”
This protection is granted to the consumer over and above the common law or normal contractual claim in case of breach of agreement. A consumer could in certain circumstances have three separate potential claims available to him/her in a dispute with a service provider. Those claims could be 1; in terms of the CPA, 2; in terms of the common law and/or 3; in terms of a manufacturer’s warranty; provided that that dispute relates to unsafe, damaged, or defective goods or services.

It seems Takealot, Candy and Mastercare is above the law and unwilling to resolve the matter. I am still without a washing machine, 3 small kids which is a necessity NOT a luxury and all I get is stone cold silence form all parties mentioned. Our money was taken without hesitation but after sales service is lacking.
