CampusKey - Port Elizabeth (Revolting Service)

If I could rate a no star to this place I would!!

My child stayed in the PE for a year and had NSFAS paying for him. In June 2023 I was told i have to top up because NSFAS does not pay the full amount for res, i did the top ups and when i called again after 3 months (as per communication received from a Dennis that i was dealing with that time) i was told he was no longer working there and everything was in order.

Fast forward to 2024......My child had to go back to res, the day he went back they said they are sorting out his accounts stuff he must wait. while he waited they gave him lease to sign (which i thing was done ********ly because if you owe for 2023 and their policy is you can not get a room for 2024 if you owe last years fees then why give him a new lease to sign) after having signed the lease they said he must pay the outstanding balance first before he is let in. The accounts department advised he can pay the rent for the 1st month and can make an arrangement once he is in to pay the rest. After paying the rent for the first month (on that same day) they changed their tune that the money will not be allocated for res but will be subtracted from the bill.

This went back and forth for 3/4 days as they did not want to return the money because i said it was paid under false pretense and should be returned. They then said my some has to find his own person to occupy his room as he said a lease (which they gave him to sign under false pretense again). I have been emailing and called Lelache Rockman back and forth trying to get assistance with this matter and to make a payment arrangement atleast because i am not able to pay the money now.

She has not responded to my emails, she is not available when i call her and when i leave a message she does not call me back. My biggest worry is that they had threatened to take this account to debt collectors and that will affect my credit record, for a resident that is NSFAS affiliated that obviously means i am not able to afford it hence my son is funded.

The mistake made from the very start was not mine but it was the lake of communication from the res. From that mistake i was cooperative and always willing to sort it out (played my part in that too). There after again they did not communicate i chased after CK for a year. Now again when i want to do things the right way again there is not communication from them instead i am dealing with a rude clerk that put the phone in my ear when i asked her to respond to my emails (because i have experience where they tell you one thing over the phone but never give written answers as to not incriminate themselves), i am giving the run around as to what the way forward can be.

I am livid and i can boldly say the service there is revolting to say the least and if anyone has a child in that CampusKey Res - PE then they better do their homework and due diligence because something is fishy in that place!!
